2010-2011

Create a database with information on the where classics are
taught in the CAMWS jurisdiction.

Help more effectively programs in danger, foreseeing,
if possible, the upcoming events.

Promote the use of CPL funds among the CAMWS membership.

Encourage letter writing to college and school
administrators for their support for classics.

Promote the CAMWS publications.
2004-2005
- increase visibility of Latin programs in your area (newspaper articles,
local parades, holiday events, 3k runs/walks, kite flying competitions,
Halloween haunted houses, helping at football games, whatever)
- utilize CPL funds more effectively
for broader, more visible promotional activities (see above)
- encourage or organize letter writing campaigns to thank principals,
superintendents and school boards for supporting Latin in tough economic
times
- increase visibility of National Latin Teacher
Recruitment Week
- expand and utilize the master teacher list
- promote CPL Online (once launched)
2003-2004
- revise website to be more in line with the new CAMWS website
- increase number of teachers being nominated for teaching award
- provide downloadable materials online for teachers--posters, brochures,
etc.
- launch CPL Online, an online journal primarily of pedagogical
papers presented at CAMWS
- to develop both a proactive and a reactive plan for dealing with
programs in crisis
- expand master teacher list to include master teachers from all the
states and provinces
2002-2003
- Improve communication between the CPL committee and CAMWS vice-presidents
- Provide an orientation for vice-presidents at CAMWS 2003
- Gather information about Latin teaching in CAMWS territory
2001-2002
- identifying Latin programs in each state and anticipating openings
- developing contacts between CAMWS members and state foreign language
coordinators [LINK]
- creating a list of expert high school teachers willing to speak
to college students about careers in high school Latin teaching,
sponsoring such events, putting testimonials on the CPL website [LINK]
- identifying the Latin teacher programs and their coordinators in
CAMWS territory and obtaining statistical information about their

- developing and distributing information about Latin to high school
